The Income Tax: Root of all Evil

In this 1954 pamphlet by Frank Chodorov, a strong argument is made for repealing the 16th Amendment.  Mr. Chodorov and his peers recognized that the spread of socialism cannot be stopped in the U.S. as long as its citizens are burdened with the income tax.  In the "Argument" section of the pamphlet, he wrote:

"We cannot restore traditional American freedom unless we limit the government's power to tax. No tinkering with this, that, or the other law will stop the trend toward socialism. We must repeal the Sixteenth Amendment.
